SIMPLE PRESENT AND SIMPLE PAST PASSIVES.

PASSIVE

The passive is used when it is not known or not relevant who executes the action.In order to speak in the passive, we need the past participle of the verb that helps determine the information provided.

Case of the present simple passive

The structure for the present simple passive is:

SUBJECT + AM/IS/ARE + (NOT) + PAST PARTICIPLE + REST

Examples:

                                          AG.4.3.2

SUBJECT	AM/IS/ARE	(NOT)	PAST PARTICIPLE	REST
The airport	is		visited	by thousands of travelers every day.
Hotels	are		booked	during the holiday season.
Passports	are	not	checked	by security before boarding the plane.
Tourists	are		given	a map of the city upon arrival.
Beaches	are		cleaned	regularly to maintain their beauty.

Case of the past simple passive

The structure for the past simple passive is:

SUBJECT + WAS/WERE + (NOT) + PAST PARTICIPLE + REST

Examples:

The cruise	was	not	enjoyed	by thousands of passengers
Adventures	were		organized	by the tour company
Vacations	were	not	planned	months in advance
Beaches	were		visited	by tourists
Suitcases	were	not	lost	by some travelers

1. La comida es preparada por el chef todas las noches.

2. Los libros son leídos por los estudiantes en la clase de literatura.

4. La casa es limpia por el servicio de limpieza cada semana.

5. Los informes son revisados por el supervisor antes de enviarlos.
