SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTIOS IN TIME CLAUSES

Las conjunciones subordinadas temporales conectan ideas en una oración principal con eventos en otra. Exploraremos cómo las conjunciones 'after', 'as soon as', 'before', 'once', 'when', 'whenever', 'while', 'till' y 'until' estructuran relaciones temporales en el discurso.

Una clausula temporal nos dice cuando algo sucede. Esta comienza con una conjunción subordinada.

Ha aquí las conjunciones más útiles:

After (después de):

1) After she finished her homework, she went to bed.
     Después de que terminó su tarea, se fue a la cama.

2) He called his friend after he arrived at the airport.
     Llamó a su amigo después de llegar al aeropuerto.

As soon as (tan pronto como):

                                          AG.8.2.3

1) She will send the email as soon as she gets the information.
     Enviará el correo electrónico tan pronto como obtenga la información.

2) As soon as the bell rings, class will begin.
     Tan pronto como suene la campana, comenzará la clase.

Before (antes de):

                                          AG.8.2.4

1) He always checks his email before he leaves for work.
     Siempre revisa su correo electrónico antes de salir para el trabajo.

2) Before you go to bed, don't forget to brush your teeth.
     Antes de irte a la cama, no olvides cepillarte los dientes.

Once (una vez que):

                                          AG.8.2.5

1) Once she starts singing, everyone listens attentively.
     Una vez que ella comienza a cantar, todos escuchan atentamente.

2) Once you press the button, the machine will start.
     Una vez que presiones el botón, la máquina comenzará.

When (cuando):

                                          AG.8.2.6

1) When he arrived home, he found a surprise waiting for him.
     Cuando llegó a casa, encontró una sorpresa esperándolo.

2) She always smiles when she sees her dog.
     Siempre sonríe cuando ve a su perro.

Whenever (siempre que):

                                          AG.8.2.7

1) Whenever it rains, she stays indoors and reads a book.
     Siempre que llueve, ella se queda adentro y lee un libro.

2) He eats ice cream whenever he feels sad.
     Come helado siempre que se siente triste.

While (mientras):

                                          AG.8.2.8

1) While she was cooking, her children were playing in the garden.
     Mientras ella cocinaba, sus hijos estaban jugando en el jardín.

2) He listened to music while he was jogging.
     Escuchaba música mientras corría.

Till/Until (hasta que):

                                          AG.8.2.9

1) He waited till she finished her exam before they left.
     Esperó hasta que ella terminara su examen antes de irse.

2) I will stay here untill you come back.
     Me quedaré aquí hasta que vuelvas.
